This project was conceived in 2013 after receiving early access to the Leap Motion beta.
The idea was to design an interactive event totem that transforms the traditional number draw into a physical–digital experience.

Grabbing Luck:
The Gesture-Based Machine
Players interact with a virtual urn containing floating numbers and extract them by using their hand in mid-air.
Through Leap Motion’s hand-tracking technology, the system detects and interprets natural gestures – specifically a studied “grab” motion – allowing users to virtually grasp a number and pull it out of the urn.
A working demo was developed to validate the interaction, focusing on gesture accuracy, immediacy, and playfulness.
At the end of the experience, the extracted numbers are printed and handed to the player, creating a tangible takeaway that reinforces the moment and connects the digital interaction to the real-world game.
The result is an immersive, touch-free gaming machine designed for live events, combining physical engagement, digital randomness, and memorable user interaction.
